More moving and shaking in the firearms category. My personal battery is turning over all at once, or so it seems. The Hammerli 162 should arrive this week; not sure it will be in time for Saturday's match. I have also made additional modifications to the Walther CP2 grip, and I think it is now match ready. My practice sessions have rounded more-or-less into form and I anticipate a much improved performance this go around.
I have acquired a Smith&Wesson 4046 to use in my club's Action Pistol matches, of which I am the host. I want to give the 3rd gen DAO trigger a try, as I have heard very good things about these pistols. It also makes sense logistically - I have a boat load of components for .40 to burn up this summer. Shooting for free is cool! We will compete the last Saturday of the month in June, July, and August and guests are most welcome. Check out our web site here for details, I will be updating the match info this week.
The picture attached to this post is a Walther CP99 Co2 pistol that I acquired from Earl's; I had a deposit languishing for a year and had to spend it on something. Early returns are in, and it is a fun toy to play with that (perhaps) has some value as a training aid. I have slapped together a bunch of leftover lumber and built three 2/3 scale target stands, complete with targets and whatnot. I've performed some preliminary drills as a proof-of-concept and it works just fine. The report is lively enough that it activates my shot timer, so it is possible to track draw times and splits. I will do some more work with this setup after this month; too much "real" shooting to get together for now.
