Rob's Competition Shooting Training Log
A log of my return to competition shooting after shoulder surgery, diabetes, and eye surgery
Entry for August 11, 2006

No photo for this entry, as it will be too depressing Image

I have not been successful in getting the Pardini 45 dialed-in. After four different dot sights and a visit to the local 'smith, I'm right back where I started. Perhaps the prior owner was an IPSC fan, and not a Bullseye shooter. It would certainly make sense, given the problems I've had with this rig.

New plan - trade the Pardini for a Free Pistol, and shop around for another .45. The Dutchess County club is holding an International match on the 16th of September; that is the new focus of my home training regimen. Free Pistol and Standard pistol are a given; what could go wrong? Image Air Pistol will be a bit more work, as I still have not completed the Nygord mods or the new grips. I plan on working on them over the weekend.

Thursday nights are still reserved for Sporterifle, which is coming along ok. The trigger on my Sako Finnfire, as well as the angle of the pistol grip, is far from ideal. Every once in a while, I throw an 8 (or worse!). The fellow I've been shooting with has a nice little Ruger 10/22 set up with a pistol grip stock and a decent trigger job. After giving it a whirl, it has me thinking ...

The Sako that I've been using is extremely accurate, but right at the 7.5lb weight limit. In fact, I am shooting without the turret caps on my scope, and with the sling swivels removed to just about make it, depending on how critically one wants to look at the scale - the weight is that close. I've a plan to tart-up a 10/22 (bone stock, brand new) that I have on hand with a new stock, lightweight bull barrell, and trigger job. More to come on that subject!
