* This is not a slur on the able d'Albert. He was hampered in his decision process during the battle by the many French nobles
! I wanted to make the polearmed nobility better then just DMA. Hence the extra factor
< Alencon's plan to fight the battle was the only one with any common sense. Hence his rating.
** The horse of the third Battle were from Poitevins, Gascony and Breton. They had nothing in common with their commanders.
*** French historians lament that only several scores (score being 20,) were avaliable to charge, the rest having wondered off to eat and drink!
French special rules.
1. MUD: The ground was mud. No impetus allowed for Horse.
2. WOODS: Units in Woods fight per Armati rules.
3. LEAKING BATTLES: Every time a unit in the first battle breaks during MELEE, two units in the second battle, and in the third battle, (players choice) must test routed into morale. This represents the other two battles losing heart as the first battle is cut to pieces. If the units breaks, and is a key unit, the loss counts as a BP against that battle.
4. FATIGUE: The French Knights and DMA were fatigued before reaching the English battle line. Therefore the French Kn vets all have a fatigue number of 3 not 4.
5. DISMOUNTING TROOPS: No French horse may dismount.
The English (King Henry V & his band of Brothers.)
1st Battle: Henry V, King of England +2 +2
Control: H:5 L:1 BP 3 INT 4.
-> 1 Kn 7 [2] 0 +2 Varius (Vets)
-> 2 FT 5 [1] 1 +1 Bill
-> 4 LB 2 [1] 1 +1 Longbow
2nd Battle: Edward, Duke of York +1 +1
Control: H:5 L:1 BP 3 INT 4.
-> 1 DMA 6 [1] 0 +2 Various (Vets)
-> 1 FT 5 [1] 1 +1 Bill
-> 4 LB 2 [1] 1 +1 Longbow
3rd Battle: John, Lord Camoys K.B. +1 +1
Control: H:5 L:1 BP 3 INT 4.
-> 1 DMA 6 [1] 0 +2 Battle Axe (Vets)
-> 1 FT 5 [1] 1 +1 Bill
-> 4 LB 2 [1] 1 +1 Longbow
Total Foot:
1st Battle: 1900
2nd Battle:1600
3rd Battle: 1600
English Special rules:
1. Longbow count as HI on the flanks. Therefore if the target unit is outscored with a LB unit on its flank, it breaks. But longbow flank attacks DO NOT force the flanked unit to fight with its flank modifier to the front. The flanked unit DOES fight with its flank modifier to its flank or rear.
2. Longbow start the game STAKED.
The Field
The Field is 60" by 48" for 15MM figures
Deployment
English:
The Gap between the Tramecourt Woods to Agincourt Woods should be wide enough to allow the English to deploy in line The woods run back to the table edge.
French:
French deploys first line 24" from English line. Second line is 6" behind that. Third line is 15" from second.
Victory
French must beat the English in 20 turns or lose. Or the side that has two broken battles first, has lost. Loss of a leader counts as a BP against that battle.
If You have never played a multi army game before, you total all three battles' INIT then Roll for Initiative.
I.E 4 +3+3 =10 3+3+3=9 The 10 player adds 1 to the die.
INIT can never be higher then +3.
Notes.
The first time we played this the French beat the English in 13 turns! Even though the English had massacred the French first battle, the second French battle rolled over the exhausted English. Which means Alencon's idea would have worked. What kept it from happening was of course the intermingling of the first and second lines. This will not be happening so I have devised a way to get the feel of this, "bleedthrough." What happens is the second line may start to lose units, as the defeated first line runs through it. To represent this two key units in each the second and third lines must check "routed into morale" every time a key unit is lost in the first line even though they were not physically routed into. This gives the effect of the lines bleeding strength as they did in actual battle. It makes the game a lot more even.
